From Matthew 2: 2&9

If we look at the birth and early life of the Lord Jesus, we understand that from the moment of his birth, his greatness and power were already manifest and perceptible to certain people, like the Magi.

Observers of the stars, the Magi quickly realised when they saw the star of the Lord Jesus that the true King was there. They hastened to meet him, bring him gifts and worship him.

King Herod, seeing his sovereignty in danger thanks to the information provided by the Magi in search of the Lord Jesus, wanted to put an end to the Lord’s life in order to keep his throne.

Warned and directed by the angels, the Lord’s parents left the country to protect Jesus. He who would later save each and every one of us. This shows the extent to which parents have a role to play in their child’s destiny.

Each of us has or will have a child with a star that shines from birth. We all watch our children’s stars. Brilliant at school, skilful with their hands, gifted with abilities, they give us a glimpse from birth of who they are and what they are destined to become. That’s why we need to be attentive to them and to our environment. Otherwise, there will be Herods ready to do anything to destroy the destiny of the latter.

As parents, we owe it to ourselves to listen to the Lord’s voice. The future of our child is at stake. To preserve the destiny of the Lord Jesus, his parents had to leave their home, their town and their country, under the warning of an angel. They took refuge in another country until the death of King Herod. And even after his death, with the danger still hanging over them, they returned to their country and stayed in the town of Nazareth.

Looking at all this, we can see that, under God’s guidance, parents are the ones who must do everything they can to supervise, preserve and protect their children until the fulfilment of what God has planned for them. God says in his word in Jeremiah 1.5:

«Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I knew you, and before you were born I had consecrated you, I had appointed you a prophet to the nations.»

Let’s understand that before we were born, God already had a plan for our lives. He had a destiny for each of us and for our children. He also said in Jeremiah 29.11

“For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ’plans for peace and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

These words show that God has plans for his children, plans for peace and not for misfortune. This is not the case with the devil and his agents.

That’s why we need to know what God’s plan is for our child. We have to make sure that they achieve it. As parents, we also have to make sure that we are also part of God’s plans.

The Lord is calling our children to something great. Let’s listen carefully and work with God to accomplish his plans. We must preserve and protect our children so that they can achieve this.
